For us, "Black Lives Matter" isn't a trendy chant or an obligatory statement - it is everyday life. We stand in solidarity against police brutality and systemic racism with our fellow Black Americans and members of the diaspora around the world, and we will continue to do so until justice is reality.
This conversation is not political - it centers the right of all human beings to live safely and peacefully, free from systems of oppression. In order to rid the world of these systems, this conversation must occur in boardrooms as well as backyards, among colleagues as well as friends. Those who are impacted must be safe to speak of the harm done and to call out discrimination and participate in solutions to the extent they feel comfortable. Those who are not impacted must listen to those who are, seek to understand, refrain from pressuring the oppressed to solve a problem they did not create, and actively work to end oppression.
We commit to speaking boldly in all spaces and before all audiences, and to building bridges that will help solve these problems. This is hard work and we will make mistakes, but it is the most important work of our lives and we will not be swayed.
